It is required that all bison be grass-fed and allowed to graze freely, but few consumers realize that most ranched bison are finished in feedlots and fed corn or grain. Memphis Ranch Meat Company is one of the few bison ranches in the country that raises its animals according to the strict USDA stipulations that allow us to claim we raise only 100% Authentic American Bison™. Bison meat is a healthier source of protein over chicken, beef, pork, and even fish because it is significantly lower in calories, fat, and cholesterol. The bison at Memphis Ranch graze freely upon the same types of prairie grass that sustained their predecessors for 200,000 years. We never transfer our stock to a filthy, overcrowded feedlot to be finished. Our bison spend their entire lives on the land they’ve always known.
